What is the difference between locations and departments?

A location is a physical site (e.g. a specific store or restaurant address) - each has its own schedule, clock-in geofence, and staff list. A department is a grouping within a location (e.g. Kitchen, Front of House) used for reporting and role-based scheduling. Most businesses only need locations; departments are optional and helpful once a single site has distinct teams.
